My Dad,

Louis (Lou) S Damiani (1915 - 1981)

Louis Damiani, graduated from New York University and moved to Panama in 1941 as a steam fitter, he was very active representing the Canal Zone in Washington DC from the early 50s thru his retirement in 1973.

In a letter from then, President John F Kennedy he referred to "Louie" as an "Able man and good Friend" (even though he was a Republican).  I remember as a kid riding the then secret, under ground tram system from government buildings to Capital hill.

In 1972 he was awarded the

"Panama Canal Public Service Award"

and in 1973 Before my Dad's retirement as Chief Refrigeration Engineer at MT Hope, he was awarded the

"Master Key to the Panama Canal"

by Governor David S. Parker for his role Representing the Canal Zone in Washington.

"Lou" known by friends, passed away at 66, in Roswell Ga, in 1981 after a short illness.
